perfect morning

a sunday morning like this one doesn't happen very often. waking up with no alarm with no appointments or commitments except a friend's recital tonight. after a stressful week and beginning to the weekend it feels so good. breakfast in bed with good books, favorite newspaper, and good company. i'm finally feeling excited about my recital-except for the excerpts. i'm really excited to play the hindemith sonata. i really feel like i know it inside and out since i had played it once in high school and now there are so many more things i can do with it.

friday night i drove my car into a ditch. yes, it was more my fault than the ice. i was babysitting for my conductor and while backing out misjudged the slope in his driveway and ended up half on his lawn and half on his driveway! so embarrassing! he had to drive me home at midnight after trying to shovel it out. my poor car looked so sad and helpless perched on the edge belly up in snow.

now all i have to do today is finish cleaning the house and stay relaxed and warmed up on the viola. the work for the recital is over and today is a "tapering day."
