tonight i was at a subway stop with my friend matt, and there was a violinist i always see around at the different stops entertaining people with playing and stories. he's a jolly kind of guy and usually wears dark baggy jeans, and a big beige coat over a flannel shirt, and is starting to get a little gray around the edges of his hair. his violin has a large crack down the back of it and the varnish has lots of age spots, but that doesn't seem to bother him or his fiddlin. he started letting people try his violin and try some open strings and stuff and there was a whole circle of people, so i decided to get in the circle and wait my turn. he was showing me how to hold it and stuff and then he let me try some bows on open strings while he held it and i played like i thought a beginner would play and then when he let go started playing really fast scales and stuff. oh man i have never surprised someone so much or made a total stranger laugh so much in my life! i tricked him! hehehe. i'm still smiling about it.
