resolutions

res·o·lu·tion Audio pronunciation of "resolutions" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (rz-lshn)
n.
  1. The state or quality of being resolute; firm determination.
  2. A resolving to do something.
  3. A course of action determined or decided on.
i have been thinking about what i want my resolutions to be. i really wanted to say my new years resolution was to have no resolutions, but i'm also not sure if i'm there yet. i'm going to admit something. about twice a year growing up, i would make lists of things i wanted to change about myself. i would usually make these lists before summer camp and i would decide on how i would act and be different when i got there. there would usually be about 10 things i would want to change. i would want to look different, act different, be cooler. i've finally stopped doing that as i grow up and try to figure out what makes me me and accept that. but i've been wondering-why are new years resolutions so accepted in our society? is it an american thing to always want to do better, do more? i believe you should always grow and change but this year, no resolutions for me except to have more resolve and trust myself more so i don't feel like i need a resolution to keep going.
